Effective teaching is the cornerstone of advancing medical knowledge, ensuring clinical competence, and fostering the next generation of healthcare professionals. However, being an expert clinician does not automatically equate to being an effective educator. This course is designed to bridge that gap. “Teach the Teacher” is a specialized program that equips healthcare professionals with the essential principles and practical skills of modern medical education.
Moving beyond traditional lecture-based methods, this course explores evidence-based educational strategies, curriculum design, assessment techniques, and the creation of a supportive learning environment. Participants will learn how to translate their clinical expertise into engaging, effective, and impactful learning experiences for students, interns, residents, colleagues, and even patients.
Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:
-
Apply Principles of Adult Learning: Design and deliver teaching sessions that are relevant, engaging, and effective for adult learners in clinical settings.
-
Utilize a Variety of Teaching Methodologies: Employ a range of techniques including small group teaching, bedside teaching, lectures, simulation, and one-on-one coaching.
-
Develop Effective Learning Objectives and Curricula: Construct clear, measurable learning objectives and design coherent session plans and curricula aligned with educational goals.
-
Provide Constructive Feedback and Conduct Assessments: Master the art of giving effective, formative feedback and utilize appropriate tools for knowledge and skills assessment.
-
Foster an Inclusive and Positive Learning Environment: Create a safe, respectful, and motivating atmosphere that encourages questions, critical thinking, and professional growth.
-
Integrate Technology into Teaching: Effectively use digital tools and online platforms to enhance learning and facilitate flipped classrooms or blended learning.
