The role of the Learning & Development (L&D) manager is rapidly evolving. Beyond designing and delivering training, the modern L&D leader must act as a strategic partner, capability builder, and agent of cultural change. This requires a shift from a directive “order-taker” approach to a facilitative and empowering one. This masterclass equips L&D managers with the advanced coaching and mentoring skills necessary to unlock the potential of individuals and teams, foster a continuous learning culture, and directly link development initiatives to tangible business performance.
Participants will move beyond theoretical models to master the practical application of coaching frameworks, mentoring strategies, and conversational techniques. This course focuses on developing the L&D manager as an internal consultant and coach who can develop others, guide leaders, and embed coaching principles into the fabric of the organization’s learning strategy.
Upon successful completion of this masterclass, participants will be able to:
-
Differentiate between coaching, mentoring, training, and consulting, and apply the appropriate approach based on the developmental need.
-
Demonstrate core coaching competencies, including active listening, powerful questioning, and providing constructive feedback, using a structured framework (e.g., GROW model).
-
Design and implement a structured mentoring program within their organization to facilitate knowledge transfer and career development.
-
Apply coaching techniques to conduct needs analysis, evaluate learning impact, and ensure the transfer of training to the workplace.
-
Coach leaders and managers to become effective coaches for their own teams, thereby scaling a coaching culture.
