Day 1: Cloud Architecture & Design Principles

Module 1: The Cloud Mindset: Well-Architected Frameworks
- Overview of the AWS Well-Architected Framework, Microsoft Azure Well-Architected Framework, and Google Cloud’s Architecture Framework.
- The pillars of operational excellence, security, reliability, performance efficiency, and cost optimization.
Module 2: Global Infrastructure & Core Services
- Designing with Regions, Availability Zones, and Edge Locations in mind.
- Core services: Virtual Networks (VPC/VNet), Compute (EC2, VMs), and Storage (S3, Blob Storage).
Hands-On Lab: Designing and deploying a multi-tier, highly available web application architecture in a cloud console.

Day 2: Automation with Infrastructure as Code (IaC)

Module 3: The Principle of IaC
- Benefits of automation: repeatability, consistency, and version control for infrastructure.
Module 4: Mastering Terraform
- Terraform syntax (HCL), providers, state management, and modules.
- Planning and applying infrastructure changes.
Hands-On Lab: Writing Terraform code to automate the deployment of Day 1’s architecture from scratch.

Day 3: Secure by Design & Identity Management

Module 5: Cloud Security Fundamentals
- The Shared Responsibility Model clarified.
Module 6: Identity and Access Management (IAM)
- Principle of least privilege. Managing users, groups, roles, and policies.
Module 7: Network Security & hardening
- Securing networks with Security Groups, NACLs, Firewalls, and Web Application Firewalls (WAF).
Hands-On Lab: Hardening the deployed infrastructure: configuring IAM roles, security groups, and enabling security services.

Day 4: Application Deployment & Modernization

Module 8: Containerization & Kubernetes Essentials
- Packaging applications with Docker.
- Introduction to Kubernetes: Pods, Deployments, and Services. Managed Kubernetes services (EKS, AKS, GKE).
Module 9: Serverless Architectures
- Building with Functions-as-a-Service (AWS Lambda, Azure Functions) and serverless databases.
Hands-On Lab: Deploying a containerized application to a managed Kubernetes cluster and configuring a serverless function.

Day 5: CI/CD, Monitoring, and Cost Optimization

Module 10: Building CI/CD Pipelines
- Automating builds, tests, and deployments with tools like GitHub Actions, AWS CodePipeline, or Azure DevOps.
Module 11: Monitoring, Logging, and Alerting
- Implementing observability with cloud monitoring tools (CloudWatch, Azure Monitor).
- Setting up dashboards and alerts for performance and billing.
Module 12: Governing the Cloud: Cost Optimization
- Strategies for reducing cost: right-sizing, spot instances, committed use discounts.
- Implementing budgeting and alerting tools.
Capstone Project: Participants will complete an end-to-end project: using IaC to build a secure environment, deploy an application via a CI/CD pipeline, and configure monitoring and cost alerts.
