Stroke is a leading cause of death and disability worldwide, where every minute of delay in treatment results in the loss of millions of neurons. Rapid recognition and evidence-based management are critical to saving lives, preserving brain function, and improving long-term outcomes. This course is designed to empower healthcare professionals with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to act swiftly and effectively in the face of acute stroke. Through a blend of theory, case-based learning, and practical simulations, participants will learn to integrate the latest clinical guidelines into their practice, ensuring they are prepared to make a decisive impact when time matters most.
Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:
-
Recognize the signs and symptoms of stroke using standardized screening tools (e.g., FAST, NIHSS).
-
Differentiate between ischemic and hemorrhagic stroke and identify stroke mimics.
-
Execute rapid initial assessment and stabilization of acute stroke patients.
-
Apply evidence-based protocols for thrombolysis and thrombectomy eligibility.
-
Coordinate seamless transitions from emergency care to specialized stroke units.
-
Educate patients and families on stroke prevention and recovery.
This course is ideal for:
-
Emergency Department Physicians, Nurses, and Paramedics
-
Neurologists and Internists
-
Primary Care Providers
-
Medical Students and Residents
-
Allied Health Professionals (e.g., radiographers, physiotherapists) involved in acute care.
